BackHANDMADE CIGARS LENDING A HAND
As a new academic year approaches, the children of General Cigar Dominicana employees will benefit from funds raised by Scandinavian Tobacco Group Canada as part of an educational initiative known as De manos a manitas.
Withless than 60% of Dominican children completing elementary school, the initiative focuses on “lending a hand” to local communities by fostering access to education. For every handmade cigar sold in 2015 and beyond, 10¢ (CAD) will be donated towards efforts that enrich the well-being of children, paying particular focus on providing materials needed at the elementary school level.
Scandinavian Tobacco Group Canada’s total donation objective for 2015 is $65,000 (CAD) - the first of which will be implemented in July – and managed in partnership withour handmade cigar manufacturer in the Dominican Republic.
The first of its kind within the Group,De manos a manitas is a unique corporate social responsibility endeavor that helps broaden the scope of learning while encouraging employees, retailers and consumers to “lend a hand” and ensure a better future for the children in the Dominican.
