RIBBONS CUT AT OPENING OF EXPANDED TOBACCO FACILITY IN HOLSTEBRO
Today, STG Holstebro hosted the Grand Opening of its new facility for expanded fine-cut tobacco. The expanded tobacco production is a brand new facility only a few kilometres away from the original Holstebro facility.
Mayor H. C. Østerbye (left) and chairman Jørgen Tandrup (right), Scandinavian Tobacco Group, opened the factory by cutting the ribbon.
H. C. Østerbye said: “We are happy that the tobacco factories are located in Holstebro. People who live close by breweries know the scent of brewing. In Holstebro, we know and enjoy the sweet and spicy scent of tobacco. Holstebro and tobacco have been interlinked for almost 100 years. We have benefitted a lot from being a tobacco town when it comes to manufacturing jobs and funding of especially cultural activities. We are happy that it continues.”
The new Holstebro facility spans 9,400 square metres and has been prepared for our ambitious growth plans as well as a potential relocation of the original Holstebro facility. The production of expanded tobacco begins in mid-October and secures Scandinavian Tobacco Group a stable supply of both expanded fine cut tobacco and cigar filler. Expanded tobacco means significantly lower tobacco costs and thus improves our competitiveness.
