SCANDINAVIAN TOBACCO GROUP ACQUIRES TWO CIGAR FACTORIES IN CENTRAL AMERICA

Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S (previously Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni A/S) is continuing to expand its activities in the global cigar industry.

At the dawn of 2009 the corporation, which is a world leading cigar company, has acquired two cigar factories in respectively Danli in Honduras and Esteli in Nicaragua. The sellers are the families Olivas and Toraño.

The factories jointly employ around 950 people, and annually produce around 17 million hand-rolled, premium long filler cigars, which are sold under the CAO brand name (via Scandinavian Tobacco Group's American company CAO International), Carlos Toraño cigars and some other well known brand names.

Daily management of the factories will continue to be handled by the members of the two families, who founded and have now sold the companies, namely Charlie Toraño, Fidel, José and Aldrin Olivas. The continuity and high quality for which the companies and their staff are renowned will thus be ensured.
